Jan Saudek is a Czech photographer known for his depictions of nudes and youthful figures arranged in dreamlike spaces. His compositions evoke the dramatic tableaus of early photography, with subjects artificially posed in front of the viewer. During his job, in 1959 Saudek gained photography experience through the 6×6 Flexaret camera.

Jan Saudek is the most reknown Czeck photographer in the world. His life is much like his work, tumultuous and free spirited. During WW2, because his father was a Jew, his family was persecuted by Germans.

He was born in Prague in 1935 into a Jewish family, most of his relatives died in concentration camps, he and his twin brother Karel were kept in the special children camp for twins.
